Several people have asked me for our family recipie of homemade ice cream. Here it is...for the first time on the internet!
Basic Vanilla Ice cream: [MAKES 1 Gallon] -- THIS IS RICH!!!!!
10 eggs
2 cans Evaporated milk (NOT Eagle Brand milk)-AKA Pet Milk (but not found on the pet isle!)
1 pint of whipping cream
2 cups sugar
1 Tablespoon Almond extract
1 Tablespoon Vanilla extract (I personally leave this out but was in the original recipe.
add 2% milk (cuts down on the fat!!) to bring liguid up to the 1 gallon mark on your container. (This will expand then to make the full one gallon of frozen ice cream).
We don't usually stop with just vanilla. Here are three variations to the basic recipie:
Banana Ice Cream
smash up 4-5 ripe bananas....don't chop them....and add to the basic recipie
Peanut butter and Banana Ice Cream
After you have the banana ice cream made take out 2 cups of the ice cream liquid. Add 1/2 cup of peanut butter and use a hand mixer to blend in the peanut butter into the mixture, then pour this back into the rest of the ice cream mix. For the nut lovers, add some chopped up pecans!
You can also use the basic recipie and crush up your butterfinger candy bars or YOUR favorite candy bar.
Whatever flavor you end up with.....ENJOY!
