SHERMAN DAYBREAK CONTEST ROCKS!
Sargeant of Arms Jeff Walton called our Contest Meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2007.
Jeff Walton turned the program over to President Lee Clayton who called on Joy Cole to lead the meeting with an invocation and pledge of allegiance to our flag.
Following the opening, President Lee Clayton welcomed guests and introduced all present dignitaries. Those present were Frontier Division Governor Joy Cole, Area 22 Governor Kevin Higgins, Area 45 Governor Mary Ellis, and Assistant Area Governor Jeff Walton. Guests were then recognized and acknowledged as well as welcomed.
President Lee Clayton then relinquished the stage to Sherman Daybreak's ContestMaster Kevin Higgins. ContestMaster Kevin Higgins then briefed the audience and presented the speaking order and........
THEN THE CONTEST BEGAN! WOW! WHAT A LINE-UP AND WHAT A PERFORMANCE! YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE!
Sherman Daybreak began the contest with Table Topic competition! The contestants were: Theresa Bruce, Sue Bird and Jeff Walton
The qualifying questions was: "If you were going to open a new business, what would it be and what would you sell?"
And a great time was had by all! Not only the contestants (Whew! Glad that is over!) but the audience as well. As the Table Topics competition came to an end, the judges relinquished their ballots to the Chief Judge and our ContestMaster Kevin Higgins declared a 10 minute break! Food and refreshments were provided by MANY Different SDTM members! THANKS TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED THE GREAT FOOD! AND A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!
After the brief break, President Lee Clayton called the contest back to order and turned the program over to ContestMaster Kevin Higgins. Contest Master Kevin Higgins again briefed the audience and presented the speaking order for Humorous Speech Contest.
AND THE CONTEST BEGAN! OOOOOOOHHHHH HOW FUNNY! THE SPEAKERS WERE HILARIOUS! YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE! LAUGHTER PREVAILED THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING!
The contestants were: Sue Bird and the title of her speech was "The Gift of Gab"; Theresa Bruce and the title of her speech was "My Dating Experiences"; and Jeff Walton and the title of his speech was "The Dating Game"
As the Humorous Speech Contest came to a close, the ballots were cast by the judges, collected by the Chief Judge and then our ContestMaster Kevin Higgins presented all of the contestants to the audience. We got to hear a little about each one, how long they had been in Toastmasters and some specifics about either their speech or why they answered a Table Topic the way they did. Very interesting and qualified competitors!

The first place winner will move on to compete in the Area 22 Speech Contest on September 8, 2007 in Bonham, Texas. The second place winner will compete in the Area Contests in the event the first place winner is unable to attend.
SHERMAN DAYBREAK is proud of all their competitors! With the announcement of the winners, President Lee Clayton congratulated all, thanked the audience for their attendance and support and declared the meeting adjourned!
